File Date Editor Support

Learn how to change file timestamps and what to check when a change cannot be applied. Contact us by email if the issue continues.

Basic steps

  • 1. Add files with Add files or drag and drop. Adding a folder adds eligible files inside it.
  • 2. Select the timestamps to change and enter the date and time. Unchecked timestamps are left unchanged.
  • 3. Review the before-and-after preview and apply the change.
  • 4. Use Undo when needed. Only the most recent operation can be undone.

Supported environment and limits

The app is for Windows 10 version 19041 or later and Windows 11 on x64 PCs. ARM64 is not included in the current first Store submission.

The app processes up to 10,000 ordinary files. It does not change folder timestamps. Subfolders are included only when explicitly selected.

Links, junctions, cloud placeholders, and special device paths are not supported. The app does not elevate to administrator or change permissions on protected files.

If the timestamp is not as expected

  • Check the timestamp checkboxes and entered values.
  • Close other apps that may have the file open, then try again.
  • Check the file's read-only attribute and your access permissions.
  • File systems such as FAT may round timestamps. Check the actual timestamp shown after processing.
  • Windows or another app may change an access timestamp after it accesses the file.
