Image Reference Overlay Windows 11 (x64 / ARM64) Last updated: October 1, 2026

Image Reference Overlay Support

Keep PNG and JPEG reference images in translucent, topmost windows on Windows.

Getting started

  • Choose Add images, drag files in, or use Ctrl+V. Up to 12 reference images can be open at once.
  • Drag to move an image. Use the wheel to resize, or Shift+wheel for opacity. Controls also provide rotation, mirroring and position locking.
  • Enable Pass clicks through to other apps to work beneath an image. Disable it from the controls or tray when you want to edit the reference again.
  • Ctrl+Alt+Shift+T toggles click-through, H toggles visibility, and R brings images back and enables editing. Use the controls or tray if another app owns a shortcut.
  • Closing the controls exits and saves the layout. Hide controls to tray keeps images visible. In More, choose Japanese, English or Windows language; close and reopen the app to apply the language.

Supported use

For Windows 11 on x64/ARM64. PNG, JPG and JPEG files are limited to 100 MiB and 120 million source pixels. Display copies are reduced to at most 4096 pixels on the longest edge and 4 million pixels. This is not a full-resolution image viewer.

HDR, exclusive fullscreen, UAC screens and priority over other topmost apps are not guaranteed. Changes to original files are not tracked automatically; add an updated image again.

Restoration and troubleshooting

On launch, cached images and their layout can be restored; click-through starts disabled. Use More to bring lost images back on screen.

For load or save failures, check the file format and size, free disk space and storage permissions. Keep separate copies of important images and layouts.
