FolderColor Support
How to color folders, restore their icons and resolve common problems.
Basic steps
- 1. Select Add folders or drag folders from File Explorer into the app.
- 2. Choose a color and check the folders to change. Selecting a color alone makes no change.
- 3. Apply the color. To restore an icon, check its folder and select Restore original icon.
Requirements and limits
FolderColor is for ordinary folders on local fixed or removable drives in Windows 11 on x64 or ARM64. It does not change child folders automatically.
Network shares and drives, virtual folders, paths through symbolic links or junctions, drive roots, and folders managed by Windows or apps are excluded. A color applied to a local OneDrive folder may not sync to another PC.
If the icon does not change
- Refresh File Explorer or reopen the folder location.
- Check that it is an ordinary local folder and that you have permission to change it.
- If another tool changed the icon settings, use Recheck in FolderColor to inspect its state.
Before uninstalling and contacting us
Colored folders remain colored after uninstalling. Restore them in the app before uninstalling if you want their previous icons.
If you need help, email info@caen.co.jp with FolderColor in the subject. Include your Windows and app versions, the error shown and the steps leading to it. You do not need to send the contents of your folders.
