Web QR Reader Privacy Policy
CAEN Inc. sets out this policy for information handled by Web QR Reader.
Information we collect
Web QR Reader does not collect or send personal information, account data, usage data, advertising identifiers, location, or diagnostics to CAEN Inc. or third-party analytics servers. The app has no account system.
QR code detection
When you run the Safari extension, it examines images on the active webpage and uses Apple Vision to detect QR codes on your device. QR content, webpage information, and images are not sent to an external analysis API.
If Safari cannot place an image on a canvas, the extension may make a temporary network request to the image's own source URL so it can display and scan that image. This request sends no cookies, limits the referrer to the origin, rejects unsafe destinations such as local or private IP addresses, and limits the download to 18 MB.
Information stored on your device
The app stores QR raw data, type and display details, source page URL and title, image URL and description, detection time, history preference, and background-image preference in on-device storage shared by the app and extension. History is limited to 80 items.
When history is off, up to 20 temporary results remain for about 30 minutes so you can complete an action. You can delete individual items, all history, or all stored data in the app. Deleting the app also removes this on-device data.
Permissions and handoff to other apps
The extension uses temporary access to the active tab and permission needed to share results with the app. It does not use a persistent content script on every website or permanent host permissions.
Contacts access is used only if you choose to add a contact from a contact QR code. Wi-Fi configuration permission is used only if you choose to join a network from a Wi-Fi QR code. Another app or system feature opens only after you explicitly select the corresponding action.
Third-party services
The app uses no proprietary server, advertising, analytics, tracking, crash-reporting SDK, or external QR analysis SDK. It also has no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will publish the revised content and date on this page.
