This policy applies from September 28, 2026.

Information stored in the app

Note titles and text, checklists, folders, edit history, display preferences, and the note selected for a widget are stored in the app's private storage on your device. The app uses them to provide its features.

Simple Notes has no account registration, advertising, usage analytics, or developer-operated server for sending app data. The developer does not receive your notes.

Android backups

If Android backup is enabled on your device, Android may back up or transfer app data according to the device and system settings. Cloud backup availability and encryption depend on your Android version, device, and backup settings.

Android's backup feature handles this process. It is not cloud sync operated by Simple Notes, and the developer cannot view or manage data stored by the backup service. Check your device backup settings if you do not want to use it.

Sharing, imports, and exports

Sharing notes, importing or exporting text files, and creating or restoring ZIP backups happen when you choose those actions. The app or service you select as the recipient or storage location handles the files under its own terms and privacy policy.

ZIP backups and text files created manually by the app are not encrypted. A ZIP backup also contains ordinary text copies of your notes. Review the contents before choosing a storage location or sharing it.

Widgets

If you add a home-screen widget and choose a note, an excerpt from that note appears in the widget. People who can see your home screen may also see it.

Retention and deletion

Deleted notes remain on your device in Trash until you permanently delete them. Permanent deletion removes the note and its in-app edit history. Simple Notes does not keep deleted data on a developer-operated server.

Uninstalling the app removes its local app data. Android backups and copies you shared or exported are managed separately.

Children

Simple Notes does not ask for age or identity information and does not collect user information from the app. Notes are information that you enter on your device. See this policy for details about local storage and Android backups.

Changes to this policy

If app features or data handling change, we will update this page. The revised policy applies from its publication date.
