LayoutSwitch Privacy Policy
LayoutSwitch is a Windows input language and keyboard layout utility provided by CAEN Inc.
Information checked on your device
- To perform switching, the app checks input languages and keyboard layouts loaded by Windows, identifiers for the target window, thread and process, and the current input layout. This information is processed on your device.
- The app does not collect or save typed text, keystroke history, window titles, or document contents. It does not use keyboard hooks, DLL injection, or synthetic keystrokes.
- The previously observed layout for a window is kept in memory while the app runs. This history is not retained after the app exits.
Settings, backups, and diagnostic records
Shortcuts, enabled layouts and their order, notification preferences, appearance and other settings are stored in the app's local data folder. Recovery backups and preserved copies of unreadable settings may be created. Launch at sign-in is managed through Windows startup settings.
When an error occurs, a local diagnostic log records its time, the app operation, exception type, and error code. It does not include exception messages, typed text, keystroke history, window titles, or user file names. The log rotates after reaching a size limit and retains one previous log.
Export settings saves a JSON file to a location you choose. Import settings reads a settings file you select. Exported files contain shortcuts and input layout preferences; you manage their storage, sharing, and deletion.
Network access and deletion
Switching does not require an internet connection or account. The app has no app-operated advertising or behavioral analytics. Problem diagnostics are sent to Sentry as described below. Microsoft Store purchases and updates, Windows, and Microsoft runtime services follow their respective settings and privacy policies.
You can clear the Store app's local settings and diagnostic records by resetting it in Windows app settings. Delete settings exported to other locations separately.

Problem diagnostics and Sentry
To fix problems, the app sends error types, causes and stacks, OS and app versions, a random installation identifier, and startup, exit and crash session counts to Sentry. Diagnostic data is processed to exclude personal file or folder names and paths, typed text, clipboard content, audio and device identifiers. The app does not send advertisements, screenshots, interaction recordings or memory dumps. Network IP addresses are processed by the service during transmission. Diagnostics are used to investigate problems; the main feature remains available offline.
