Japanese Address Converter Privacy Policy
Japanese Address Converter normally processes addresses on the device and uses Apple geocoding only when necessary. CAEN does not receive or store entered addresses on its own servers and does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking.
Scope
This policy applies to the Japanese Address Converter iPhone app provided by CAEN Inc. ("CAEN," "we," or "us").
The app does not include account registration, advertising, in-app purchases, or subscriptions.
Address conversion and external transmission
When the entered address contains a usable postal code and can be identified with the bundled address database, conversion is completed entirely on the device.
Only when a postal code is missing or the bundled database cannot identify the address, the entered address string is sent directly to Apple MapKit or Core Location geocoding. The request goes to Apple's service and does not pass through CAEN servers. CAEN does not receive, store, or view the address. Apple's privacy policy applies to Apple's processing of that information.
The app does not obtain the device's current location and does not request location permission.
Data stored on the device
History saving is enabled by default. A history entry contains the Japanese source address, any optional recipient name and phone number, converted address fields, review notices, and conversion time. Up to 100 entries are stored as JSON in the app's Application Support area, with complete file protection and exclusion from device backups.
The history-saving setting and preferred address-line length limit are stored in UserDefaults. This information is not sent to CAEN.
Turning off history prevents new results from being saved but does not automatically delete existing history. Existing entries can be deleted individually or with Delete All History. Removing the app also removes history and settings in its app container.
Copy and share
When the user chooses a copy action, the selected address information is written to the iOS clipboard. A share action opens the iOS share sheet. Information handled by a chosen destination app or service is governed by that destination's policy.
Collection, analytics, and tracking
CAEN does not collect personal information, usage data, device identifiers, or diagnostic data through the app. The app includes no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
The app does not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Bundled address data
For prefecture, municipality, and locality conversion, the app bundles Japan Post KEN_ALL_ROME postal address data converted into a read-only SQLite database. User-entered information is never added to that database.
Changes to this policy
If app features or information handling change, we will update this page and provide notice in the app or on the App Store when appropriate.
