Japanese Taboo Word Checker Support
Japanese Taboo Word Checker checks Japanese writing for commonly avoided expressions in weddings, condolences, hospital visits, new-home or business-opening celebrations, and birth celebrations.
Basic use
- On the Check tab, select the occasion and document type.
- Enter or paste Japanese text, then tap the button to check it.
- Review each highlighted expression, explanation, and suggested alternative. A safe replacement can be applied to the text, while a context-dependent suggestion can be copied for editing.
- For titles, proper nouns, quotations, or other intentional wording, ignore an individual finding or add the phrase to your exclusion list.
Saving and deleting data
When automatic draft saving is enabled, the App stores your text, selected occasion, and document type on this iPhone and restores them at the next launch. You can disable this feature in Settings.
You can clear the saved draft in Settings, remove excluded phrases individually, or reset settings, the saved draft, and exclusions together. Deleting the App also deletes data in its local app container.
Interpreting results
Treatment of taboo or sensitive expressions can vary by region, religion, venue, relationship, quotation, proper noun, and other context. The App is an aid based on common conventions and does not guarantee that a document is appropriate.
Read the complete document before publishing or printing it. Where appropriate, obtain a final check from the venue, wedding planner, funeral provider, or another relevant professional.
If a problem continues
- If you do not see an expected finding, confirm the selected occasion and document type, then run the check again.
- If an excluded expression is not flagged, review your exclusion list and any finding ignored for the current check. A one-time exclusion is cleared when you check the text again.
- If a draft is not restored, confirm that automatic draft saving is enabled. Disabling it clears the saved draft.
- An internet connection is required only to view this support page. Text checking works offline.
