FolderStepUp Windows Last updated: October 11, 2026

FolderStepUp Support

Move between folders without reaching for File Explorer's navigation buttons. FolderStepUp opens the parent folder when you double-click empty space in a regular folder's file list, keeping you in the same window or tab.

Features

  • Double-click Explorer empty space to open the parent folder
  • Keep the same window or tab
  • Pause and resume from the system tray
  • Empty practice folder
  • Optional start at sign-in
  • Japanese and English interface

Use and limitations

Enable the gesture and quickly click twice in the background of a regular folder's file list. Start with Try it. If it does not respond, check that you are clicking empty space rather than an item or sidebar and that the folder is not Home, search results, or ZIP contents. Use Exit in the window or tray menu to close the app.

Contact

Contact CAEN Inc. at info@caen.co.jp with the app and Windows versions and the steps that reproduce the issue. Remove personal or confidential information and send only necessary details.

Problem diagnostics and Sentry

To fix problems, the app sends error types, causes and stacks, OS and app versions, a random installation identifier, and startup, exit and crash session counts to Sentry. Diagnostic data is processed to exclude personal file or folder names and paths, typed text, clipboard content, audio and device identifiers. The app does not send advertisements, screenshots, interaction recordings or memory dumps. Network IP addresses are processed by the service during transmission. Diagnostics are used to investigate problems; the main feature remains available offline.
