Desktop View Lock iPhone / Safari Extension Last updated: July 31, 2026

Desktop View Lock Support

Desktop View Lock is an iPhone Safari extension that remembers Mobile or Desktop view for each website and applies it automatically.

Set up the extension

  • Open Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions > Desktop View Lock, then turn on the extension.
  • Allow website access so the extension can apply saved rules automatically.
  • Open a website in Safari and select Desktop View Lock from the page menu.

Choose a view mode

From the extension menu in Safari, set the current website to Desktop, Mobile, or Default view. The selected mode is applied automatically on future visits to the saved domain and its subdomains.

In the app, you can add, edit, and delete saved websites and change the layout width used for desktop view.

If the view does not change

  • Check the app's Settings screen to confirm that the Safari extension is enabled.
  • Confirm in Safari extension settings that website access is allowed.
  • Reload the page. Safari reloads once when the view mode changes.
  • Choose Default view once, then select the desired mode again.
A website's saved preferences, signed-in state, or implementation may prevent it from switching completely to the expected view.

Delete saved settings

Delete individual website rules from the list. To remove every rule, use Delete All Website Rules in the app's Settings screen. Deleting the app also removes settings stored on the device.
